Tourism Cares Meaningful Travel Summits
Advancing the industry through education, networking, and action in sustainability and destination stewardship.
The Meaningful Travel Summit is Tourism Cares’ legacy program, connecting industry professionals with local changemakers across the globe. By coming together in-destination, we actualize the power of travel. The goal of the Meaningful Travel Summit is to learn from one another, infuse more sustainability into our businesses, and immerse ourselves within host communities.
Program Overview
The Summits focus on educating attendees about global topics that impact us all, such as climate change, sustainability, and equity and inclusion, providing them with the tools and resources to apply these learnings to their businesses. At the conclusion of the program, we encourage attendees to make commitments and support them in realizing these commitments long-term. Meaningful Travel Summits also involve hands-on experiences, including tours and meaningful travel experiences organized with local partners.
The Summit provides:
Connections to vetted non-profits and social enterprises for new product development
Education sessions around universal topics in sustainability and meaningful travel
Networking opportunities with other travel and tourism professionals
Actionable best practices in destination stewardship
Making a Commitment
At our Meaningful Travel Summits we ask all of our attendees to make a commitment to action. We empower our community with tools and ask them to take what they’ve learned a step further by committing to action. The only way to drive positive impact in travel and tourism is to come together, to move beyond the what and why, and to move into the how. Learn more about making a commitment, here.

Plimoth Patuxet | Tourism Cares with Plimoth 2014
Our host during our Meaningful Travel Summit event in 2014, volunteers had the opportunity to work at the Wampanoag Homesite, located in Historic Patuxet along the banks of the Eel River. With Indigenous people as their guides, volunteers built matt covered homes, or wetus, in preparation for the winter season.
